What Happens After the Apocalypse? 'Greenland 2: Migration' Trailer

Published: Sep 28 2025

"Do we really believe there's any place on Earth that can escape the wrath of such calamity?" Lionsgate has just unveiled the first official trailer for *Greenland 2: Migration*, a disaster movie and sci-fi sequel that has now evolved into an epic post-apocalyptic survival thriller. Slated to hit theaters in January 2026, just after the New Year festivities—reminiscent of how the original *Greenland* also made its debut in January 2020—this film promises to be a blockbuster. Recall the first installment? (Spoilers ahead!) At the climax, the Garrity family barely secures refuge inside a bunker before a comet obliterates everything in its path.

What Happens After the Apocalypse? 'Greenland 2: Migration' Trailer 1

In this gripping continuation, the Garrity family, having narrowly survived a near-extinction-level event triggered by an interstellar comet, is forced to abandon the sanctuary of their Greenland bunker after five years. They embark on a treacherous odyssey across the desolate, frozen wastelands of Europe, in search of a new home—somewhere in France. The cast includes Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, Roger Dale Floyd, Roman Griffin Davis, Amber Rose Revah, and Trond Fausa Aurvåg. This sequel genuinely looks promising! It promises to be grander and more spectacular, with an equal dose of insane realism depicting Earth's fate in the aftermath of a comet-induced apocalypse. Count me in; I'll definitely be watching it.

As the follow-up to the cosmic disaster film *Greenland* (2020), *Greenland 2: Migration*—also known simply as *Greenland: Migration*—is once again helmed by American filmmaker and stuntman Ric Roman Waugh. Waugh's impressive directorial repertoire includes *In the Shadows*, *Felon*, *Snitch*, *Shot Caller*, *Angel Has Fallen*, *Greenland*, *National Champions*, and *Kandahar*. The screenplay is crafted by Chris Sparling and Mitchell LaFortune. The film is produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Sébastien Raybaud, John Zois, Gerard Butler, Alan Siegel, Brendon Boyea, and Ric Roman Waugh himself. The production credits go to STX, Anton, Thunder Road, and G-BASE Film Production. Lionsgate is set to release *Greenland 2: Migration* nationwide in theaters starting January 9th, 2026, early in the new year.
