Sarah Michelle Gellar has confessed to encountering a slight hiccup after sharing a snapshot from the set of the highly anticipated reboot of "I Know What You Did Last Summer." The actress, who left an indelible mark in the original 1997 film alongside her now-husband Freddie Prinze Jr., Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Ryan Phillippe, posted a picture of a chair adorned with the film's title on November 27th. This move ignited a social media frenzy surrounding the remake.

During her Tuesday appearance on "Live With Kelly and Mark," she remarked, "One would assume, being in my position, I'd be well-versed with the dos and don'ts of closed sets. My husband was starring in the movie, and it being Thanksgiving, I took our kids to Australia to visit him. While sitting on the set, I thought, 'What a captivating photo!' and posted it instantaneously."

However, the veteran of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" soon realized her enthusiasm had led her to post the picture prematurely. "I later discovered that they hadn't released any set photos yet—they hadn't even announced the start of filming," she elaborated. "Oops! My bad, indeed!"

Kelly Ripa, the co-host, couldn't help but notice that Gellar's Instagram boasts a far larger following than the reboot film's official account (with over 4.6 million followers compared to the film's page's just above 4,500). Gellar, who starred in "Cruel Intentions," revealed that the movie's page was actually created in response to her unplanned post.

Although Gellar had previously hinted at being involved in the new sequel in an unofficial manner, her husband is reprising his role, and Hewitt is in negotiations to return as well. The original movie revolves around four young friends haunted by a tragic accident who are reunited and stalked by a hook-wielding killer in their quaint coastal town.

Prinze Jr. and Hewitt also featured in the 1998 sequel, "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer." The upcoming reboot, directed by Gellar's friend Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, stars Camila Mendes, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Hauer-King. Sony's "I Know What You Did Last Summer" is slated for release next summer.
