One month after the heart-wrenching loss of her 16-year-old son, Weston, Whitney Purvis, a 33-year-old alum from the reality series "16 and Pregnant," finds herself entangled in a legal quagmire. On Monday, July 7, she was apprehended in Floyd County, Georgia, on suspicion of felony involuntary manslaughter, according to records accessed by PEOPLE magazine. The Criminal Charges statement and Affidavit of Arrest, also obtained by PEOPLE, identifies John M. Harris as the alleged victim. His obituary painted a portrait of a compassionate soul who never hesitated to lend a helping hand, whether it was bandaging a wound, offering airport rides, or providing a temporary roof over someone's head. His infectious smile and warm hugs were legendary among his friends, and his gatherings were always aimed at nurturing relationships and creating cherished memories. TMZ was the first to break the news of Purvis' arrest.

In a poignant announcement, Purvis expressed her deepest sorrow, writing, "This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston, has passed away. Just sixteen years old, stolen from this world too soon. Life's cruelty and unfairness are beyond comprehension. I'm lost without him, my baby, my heart. How does one continue living after such a loss? I'm in disbelief, denying the reality of his absence."

She continued, her words dripping with heartache, "Weston was perfection incarnate. This nightmare is my worst fear realized. I would give anything to hold him again. No words can encapsulate the pain I feel. I love you, Weston Owen Gosa, with all my being. You were my heart, my pride. I can't imagine a future without you. Rest in Peace, my angel, gone too soon."

Struggling to cope with her grief, Purvis shared, "I can't distract myself; his memory haunts me incessantly. I dread picking up my phone, fearing another reminder of his absence." She added, her voice breaking, "When I'm not crying, I stare blankly at the ceiling. I never imagined enduring such pain. No one does, until it strikes them personally. I can't fathom a life beyond this heartache."

Purvis also revealed that her son had battled numerous health issues throughout his short life, far more than any child should endure. "He was born with Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency and later diagnosed with Addison's disease, which ultimately led to diabetes," she said, her voice laden with sorrow. "He hated the diabetes, the needles. He'd cry, asking why he had to suffer thus. It was a burden too heavy for him to bear."

The tragic tale of Whitney Purvis and her son Weston serves as a poignant reminder of life's unpredictability and the enduring power of a mother's love.
