The star of MTV's "16 and Pregnant," Whitney Purvis, is grappling with the devastating loss of her beloved son, Weston, who tragically passed away at the tender age of 16. On Monday, the 33-year-old former reality TV personality took to social media to pen an emotional tribute to her "radiant son," disclosing the heart-wrenching news of his demise earlier that day.
"Crafting these words is excruciatingly difficult. My radiant son, Weston, has left us. He was merely 16 years old. Life's cruelty and injustice are beyond comprehension. I am utterly perplexed," Purvis penned on Facebook. "My cherished baby is no more, and I am lost without him. He was flawless, my perfect angel. This噩梦has become my stark reality."
Purvis, who featured on the MTV show back in 2009, continued, "How does one carry on after the loss of a child? I am in disbelief; this cannot truly be happening. I refuse to accept its reality. I'd give anything just to embrace him once more. No words can encapsulate the profound pain I endure."
"Oh, God, my love for you knows no bounds. You were my heart, my pride. I adored the young man you were blossoming into. I cannot fathom moving forward without you. Rest in eternal peace, my angel. You were taken from us far too soon. April 2, 2009, to June 2, 2025," she concluded, her heartfelt plea echoed through the digital realm.
While Purvis refrained from disclosing the cause of her son's passing, Weston's stepmother, Amy Gosa, shed light on his ongoing struggle with "numerous health complications," diabetes being among them.
"He ceased breathing; we administered CPR and summoned an ambulance," she revealed, adding that the family attempted to revive Weston at 7 a.m. "The paramedics tried too and rushed him to Gordon County Hospital [Georgia], where he was pronounced deceased."
"We are shattered, our hearts broken, and overwhelmed with shock. It was wholly unexpected," she shared. "Losing a child is the most excruciating pain I've ever endured, and I fervently pray never to experience it again."
Continuing, Gosa eulogized, "He was an exceptional son, beyond what words can describe. Brilliant, intelligent, humorous, and bursting with potential. It feels surreal. Please keep our family and Whitney in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn the extraordinary life of our cherished son. Thank you."
She announced that an autopsy would be conducted in the days ahead.
Purvis, in a subsequent Facebook post later on Monday, accompanied by a poignant photo of her with Weston, wrote, "Rest in eternal peace, my dear Weston. My love for you transcends time. I'll forever be puzzled by life's harshness. You'll eternally remain my baby."
Purvis welcomed Weston with her then-partner, Weston Lewis Gosa, during the inaugural season of MTV's "16 and Pregnant" in April 2009. The couple later welcomed their second son, River, in 2014, but they parted ways shortly thereafter.
Tragically, Purvis lost custody of both her sons to their father after her arrest in 2024 for failing to make child support payments, according to TMZ. Weston Sr., on his part, had a checkered past, including arrests for driving with a suspended license and vandalizing electronics.
