Michael Pitt has been apprehended on charges of sexual abuse, with authorities leveling accusations against him for sexually assaulting his former girlfriend and subsequently attacking her with multiple blunt objects. According to the prosecution's indictment, Pitt's allegations stem from four domestic disputes reportedly occurring between April 2020 and August 2021.
The police assert that these alleged incidents transpired within Pitt's Bushwick residence, where he shared space with his then-girlfriend. On one occasion, they claim he fondled his ex, and months later, he allegedly sexually assaulted her and struck her with a wooden plank. In another instance, prosecutors contend he assaulted the alleged victim with a cinderblock.
According to law enforcement officials, Pitt was apprehended on Friday, May 2, at 9 PM, charged with assault injury with a weapon motivated by sex, strangulation motivated by sex, sex abuse, and forcible compulsion. Pitt pled not guilty to all accusations leveled against him. After posting a $100,000 bail, he was released from custody.
Fans of "Boardwalk Empire" will remember Pitt as Jimmy Darmody, a pivotal character in the show's first two seasons. However, Pitt's tenure on the show was cut short due to reported difficulties in working with him. Pitt has also made appearances in "Hannibal," "Hugo," "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," "Dawson's Creek," and "Seven Psychopaths."
Jason Goldman, Pitt's attorney, informed TMZ, "Regrettably, we inhabit a world where an accomplished professional like Mr. Pitt, who would never fathom contemplating such crimes, can be apprehended solely on the unverified assertions of a distressed individual. In truth, this groundless accusation surfaces suspiciously, four or five years after the alleged incident, during a time when the two parties were in a mutually consensual and voluntary relationship. This case will undoubtedly be dismissed."
