Under the masterful direction of Neil Pepe, performances are poised to commence at Off-Broadway's Lucille Lortel Theatre on September 24th, preceding an electrifying opening night on October 16th. This limited engagement promises to be nothing short of a theatrical triumph.

The play revolves around Strings McCrane, a character brought to life by Driver's profound acting prowess. When confronted with the devastating news of his mother's passing, Strings finds himself at the crossroads of existence, opting to abandon his illustrious music career and return to the heart of Tennessee. However, even in the embrace of his hometown, he discovers that the allure of fame is a relentless companion, making escape a daunting challenge.

"Hold On to Me Darling" first graced Off-Broadway in 2016 at the Atlantic Theatre Company, with Timothy Olyphant leading the charge and Pepe, the company's visionary artistic director, at the helm. Lonergan, the pen behind timeless plays such as "This Is Our Youth," "Lobby Hero," and "The Waverly Gallery," as well as the critically acclaimed film "Manchester by the Sea," has once again woven a narrative that resonates deeply.

Driver, renowned for his captivating on-screen performances in "Girls," "Marriage Story," the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy, and countless other masterpieces, is no stranger to the stage. His recent Broadway credits include a stellar turn opposite Kerri Russell in the 2019 revival of "Burn This," while his debut on the Great White Way was in the 2010 production of "Mrs. Warren's Profession."

The remaining cast members of "Hold On to Me Darling" will be unveiled at a later date, adding to the anticipation surrounding this production. Seaview, Sue Wagner, and John Johnson have come together to bring this compelling tale to life, adding yet another chapter to the Lucille Lortel Theatre's illustrious history in the West Village, where recent productions like "Oh, Mary!" starring Cole Escola, "Rachel Bloom: Death, Let Me Do My Show," and "Danny and the Deep Blue Sea," featuring Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott, have left audiences breathless.
