Addison Rae and Omer Fedi's romance is still going strong. In a cover story published by Rolling Stone on Tuesday, January 21st, the 24-year-old "Aquamarine" singer opened up not just about her burgeoning pop star career but also about the depths of her relationship. "As a Libra, I'm a hopeless romantic at heart," she confessed to the publication.
Rae and the 24-year-old record producer made their relationship Instagram official in August 2021, and more than three years later, their bond remains as steadfast as ever. Yet, the Louisiana native acknowledges her reluctance to share intimate details with the world. "I'm quite guarded when discussing my relationships, as my first public romance taught me invaluable lessons about myself," she continued, alluding to her past with fellow content creator Bryce Hall.
The former couple parted ways for the second time in March 2021, and Rae has her suspicions about what went wrong. "I believe he cheated on me," she revealed to Rolling Stone, adding that Hall's version of events drastically differs from hers. "He claims he didn't," she said. Summing up their past, she remarked, "It was a chaotic mess. He was very vocal about everything, and it was a disaster."
However, regarding her current relationship, she chooses to remain tight-lipped. She noted that she's no longer upset about her past with Hall, who is now 25, and has moved on from the situation. "I believe there's good in everyone, so I like to think there's a good side to him too," Rae said. "We were both very young back then."
Now older and wiser, the 24-year-old who once dominated TikTok with her trendy dances is laser-focused on her future in music. "I had to reevaluate everything" after her acting debut in Netflix's 2021 film He's All That, which didn't resonate well with audiences, she told Rolling Stone. The romantic comedy was a modern retelling of the 1999 film She's All That, starring Rachael Leigh Cook and Freddie Prinze Jr.
Rae began to feel that anything she did outside of TikTok garnered some form of backlash. "I wondered, 'How can I reach a point where I feel confident in my abilities and fully deliver what I believe is the best version of myself?'" she explained.
Eventually, the release of "Diet Pepsi" in 2024 marked her Hot 100 debut. When it came to crafting her single "Aquamarine," she sought inspiration from those around her. "The word is so enchanting and the color so stunning that I thought, 'How can I create a song that captures that essence?'" she said.
Rae is currently working tirelessly to complete her album. In the meantime, she's set to star in the comedy Animal Friends alongside Aubrey Plaza, Ryan Reynolds, Dan Levy, and Jason Momoa, premiering on October 10th.
