"I'm the first trans woman to host the Met Gala, and this is a monumental occasion," Supermodel Alex Consani declared, speaking to La La Anthony during the Vogue livestream at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night. Consani embraced her historic moment as the first trans co-chair by striking the beige carpet in a Gucci gown and white faille cape, crafted by the house's creative director, Demna, who was reportedly inspired by Sandro Botticelli's Primavera.

Consani emerged on the carpet, draped in a luxurious cape that revealed her bare shoulders. In a dramatic moment, she removed the cape to reveal a sheer nude bustier, exposing her breasts, paired with a skirt and train covered in black feathers. In an interview with Vogue, Consani shared that she sent Demna some references for the Gucci look and they discussed their shared vision. "At the fitting for his first show, we talked about what I wanted, and he was really receptive to making it happen," she said. "I felt like a different person—like Natalie Portman, a little bit of Tilda Swinton. I think there's just an actress energy that it puts me in."
During the livestream, Consani talked about that energy by telling Anthony that the ensemble was a "culmination" of feathers, tinsel, "good energy and good vibes." When Anthony asked how she was able to be her "unapologetic" self, Consani said the key is keeping good people close—and wearing a good heel. "I have a lot of support at home and from my friends who are an important part of my life," she said. "It's about surrounding yourself with people who love you. And also, put on a heel. No shade. Put on a heel. It does wonders. You'll be surprised. The girls walking around in loafers are wondering, 'Why am I not feeling it?' Put on a heel, babe."
