Ali Wong and Bill Hader Break Up After More Than 2 Years of Dating

Ali Wong and Bill Hader's romance, which had endured for over two years, has come to an end. Multiple outlets reported on January 7th that the comedians have broken up.

Their split comes almost exactly a year after they sparked breakup rumors when Wong didn't attend the 2025 Golden Globes alongside Hader, who ultimately won for Best Stand-Up Comedy Performance. The absence further raised eyebrows when Wong didn't thank Hader in her acceptance speech.

However, the pair wasn't trying to pull the wool over the public's eyes. Instead, a rep for Hader told People on January 10th, "Bill was not able to attend the Globes due to a pre-existing eye condition that flared up and he was advised by his doctor to stay home and rest. He and Ali are still together."

Wong and Hader dated briefly in 2022 following her split from ex-husband Justin Hakuta—with whom she shares two kids—before rekindling their romance in April 2023. While they kept their relationship low-key over the years, Wong previously revealed how the Trainwreck star—who shares three daughters with his ex-wife Maggie Carey—decided to shoot his shot in the wake of her divorce.

"I get a phone call from this guy who I met at a dinner party in the past, and he got my number from a mutual friend," Wong explained during her May 2024 Netflix Is a Joke Fest set, according to Rolling Stone. "He was like, 'Hey, I just happened to hear the news about your divorce, and I've had a crush on you forever. I actually told my best friend years ago that you were my dream girl, and I know it sounds crazy, but I want you to be my girlfriend.'"

But unfortunately, the Always Be My Maybe star had just committed to a paid subscription to a dating app. "I was like, 'I just paid $25,'" Wong recalled saying. "'You seem really nice, but I gotta get my money's worth.'"

Undeterred, Hader continued his courtship, and when Wong went on a vacation in Europe shortly thereafter, the Barry star sent flowers to every hotel she stayed at. As romantic as the gesture was, Wong admitted that some of her guy friends were put off by it.

"That's how cheap and lazy men have become," she joked. "When a fellow man commits any act of kindness, any romantic gesture, it must be a symptom of an undiagnosed mental illness."
