Alicia Silverstone has recently unveiled an intriguing facet about the upcoming reboot of "Clueless." The iconic American actress, brimming with enthusiasm, expressed her thrill at reprising her role as Cher Horowitz in a "Clueless" series on Peacock, more than three decades after the original. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 48-year-old actress gushed, "I am eagerly anticipating slipping back into Cher's skin and donning her opulent, albeit gently used, designer shoes once more. Of course, duh, for she has evolved."
However, Alicia hinted that this iteration of her character would be a tad more grounded and astute about her surroundings. "It's 2025 now, and she won't don anything new unless it's sustainable or vegan. We'll have to see just how far we can push this envelope," elaborated the star of "The Crush."
As for the narrative, Alicia emphasized that the sequel series would pay homage to the timeless legacy of the original film. Even though the sequel is still in its "very nascent stages," the actress, who also starred in "Batman & Robin," confessed that she wouldn't dream of "tarnishing this beloved gem that we all cherish deeply." "We will strive diligently to honor the original movie that holds a special place in our hearts, while simultaneously infusing it with fresh elements," she vowed. Alicia asserted, "That is our mission, and I am confident that we will achieve it."
Meanwhile, Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Jordan Weiss have been tapped to pen and executive produce the sequel series. For those unfamiliar, "Clueless" is inspired by Jane Austen's timeless classic novel, "Emma."
