The breakup between Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom came as no stealthy surprise to some fans. The vocalist behind "Roar" and the former Pirates of the Caribbean star, who co-parent their four-year-old daughter Daisy Dove Bloom, have decided to part ways after nine years of romantic companionship, as confirmed by numerous sources.
Although neither Orlando nor Katy has publicly addressed their separation, subtle indicators hinted at a cooling of their once-blazing romance. Notably, they were conspicuously absent from each other's career highlights. Orlando's absence at Katy's Lifetimes Tour launch in April stood out, and similarly, he arrived solo at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's wedding in Venice, Italy, on June 26th.
In fact, their last public appearance together was in April, when Katy embarked on her Blue Origin spaceflight. By June 10th, she had missed the premiere of Orlando's film Deep Cover at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival. Katy also seemed to hint at heartbreak during a Sydney performance of "I'm Still Breathing." She explained, while opening a packet of gifted Tim Tams in a Daily Mail video posted on June 11th, "This song is about a breakup. And this Tim Tam saved me. Thank you."
Rumors of their split gained momentum on Father's Day, when the former American Idol judge failed to acknowledge Orlando on social media. Orlando is also the father of 13-year-old Flynn Bloom with his ex-partner Miranda Kerr.
This isn't the first time the couple's relationship has hit turbulent waters. In 2017, less than a year after they first met at a Golden Globes after-party, they briefly called it quits. "Katy pulled the plug," a source told E! News at the time. "They both still love each other very much, though, and getting back together could happen once they have some space."
True to that prediction, they reconciled and made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2018 Gala for the Global Ocean, before getting engaged later that same year.
So, what was the glue that kept their relationship together over the years? "We really understand and support each other," Katy told E! News in January. "I'm preparing to go on this world tour, and he understands that. It's just like when you're prepping to do a movie, and some of the movies he's done are even more physically and mentally intense than any of mine."
The "Teenage Dream" artist also emphasized their unwavering support for each other. "It's great to have a family to come home to and a whole identity outside of being 'Katy Perry' and music," she enthused. "I'm really proud of what I created and the time that I have had off because it's super grounding for me."
