Amanda Seyfried had no intention of squandering her emotional depth. That's precisely why the 39-year-old star of *Mamma Mia* made a conscious decision to abstain from Botox or any other cosmetic procedures while immersing herself in her latest film, *The Testament of Ann Lee*. Despite joking, "I'm due for my next," during a red-carpet interview with ETalk on September 9 at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of her movie, she underscored the vital importance of emotional expression in her craft. "I'm an actor," she declared, "and that's my job, that's what I cherish doing."
Thus, trading a few wrinkles for a leading role proved to be a straightforward choice. As she succinctly put it, "I don't necessarily need all that in my life." While the *Mean Girls* alum acknowledged her fondness for injectables, she found that forgoing them to embody a 17th-century Shakers leader like Ann Lee was more than worthwhile. "The things I love, I can sacrifice a little," she explained with conviction. "Of course, I can."
Admitting her affinity for Botox wasn't the first instance of Seyfried's candidness about her evolving skincare regimen. Earlier that year, Amanda offered a glimpse into her battle with eczema. "That's my eczema," she revealed in a March video for Vogue's Beauty Secrets series. "When I was 19, I started developing the rash, and I delved into a world of medicated products. My dermatologist at the time taught me a lot about products in general."
Combating the redness also necessitated another significant sacrifice. "Two years ago, I experienced another flare-up and decided to cut out dairy," she recounted. "Boy, it was tough. Farewell, cappuccinos; hello, black coffee all the way."
However, since becoming a mother to Nina, 7, and Thomas, 4, whom she shares with husband Thomas Sadoski, she's noticed a marked improvement. "I've seen it get a bit better after having kids. I eat better than I ever have," she shared. "And that celery juice must be doing something, right?"
