Amazon’s Hit Australian Crime Comedy ‘Deadloch’ Renewed for Season 2 1

Co-created by Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan, the first season of Deadloch introduced viewers to the unlikely partnership of detectives Dulcie Collins (Kate Box) and Eddie Redcliffe (Madeleine Sami), who teamed up to solve the murder of a man in Tasmania. The show quickly became a sensation, making its way to the Prime Video Top 10 TV Shows list in over 165 countries and territories, including the US, UK, and Canada.

In season two, Dulcie and Eddie return to their detective duties, this time heading to the northern Australian city of Darwin to investigate the suspicious death of Eddie's former policing partner, Bushy. However, their investigation takes an unexpected turn when the bodies of two renowned locals are discovered in a remote town, plunging them into a hotter, stickier mystery. Other familiar faces from season one, including Nina Oyama as Abby Matsuda and Alicia Gardiner as Cath York, Dulcie's wife, also reprise their roles.

"We are thrilled to bring Deadloch back for a second season, offering our global Prime Video audience a fresh blend of Australian humor and captivating mystery, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Northern Territory," said Sarah Christie, senior development executive at Amazon MGM Studios. "The overwhelming success of the first season, which has garnered critical acclaim and a devoted fanbase, speaks volumes about the creative genius of Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan. We are delighted to continue our collaboration with them."

Deadloch is a collaborative effort between Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, Guesswork Television, and OK Great Productions, with support from Screen Queensland and Screen Territory. The second season is created and penned by McCartney and McLennan, who also serve as executive producers alongside Kevin Whyte and Tanya Phegan from Guesswork Television. Andy Walker is the producer, and the series will be helmed by directors Beck Cole and Gracie Otto.

In a joint statement, Whyte and Phegan expressed their enthusiasm for the new season, stating, "Season two picks up the momentum from where season one left off, delivering smart, satirical humor and non-stop laughs. We are grateful to Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video for giving us the opportunity to take Deadloch's story to every corner of the world. With the support of our new partners, Screen Territory and Screen Queensland, we're thrilled to head north for the next installment. We're eagerly looking forward to reuniting with this incredible team on location."
