The esteemed American Federation of Musicians, spanning the United States and Canada, has unanimously thrown its weight behind Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency. This momentous decision stems from a unanimous vote among U.S. members of the AFM International Board, reflecting their profound appreciation for the Biden-Harris administration's unwavering commitment to labor rights. It also aligns with President Biden's announcement of not seeking reelection and his subsequent endorsement of Harris.

This New York-based union stands as a beacon for professional instrumental musicians, encompassing those who grace the stages of orchestras, bands, clubs, and theaters, as well as those whose talents shine in the realm of film, television, commercials, and sound recordings.

"The Federation stands in solidarity with all Americans who yearn for a nation unified, promoting inclusion and a vision for a brighter future, while honoring and respecting every citizen," said AFM International President Tino Gagliardi in a heartfelt statement. "For musicians who are passionate about safeguarding their rights against exploitation, both intellectual and on the job, and ensuring the security of their paychecks, benefits, and retirement, Harris is a clear and compelling choice."

Moreover, IATSE, representing over 170,000 technicians, artisans, and craftspeople from Hollywood to the vast entertainment industry, lent its support to Harris on Monday. This was followed by the AFL-CIO, a federation encompassing 60 unions, including the Department of Professional Employees, with Actors Equity, SAG-AFTRA, the Writers Guild of America East, AFM, IATSE, and more as part of its formidable coalition. However, other individual entertainment unions are still deliberating on their endorsements for Harris.
