Amy Schumer Shares She Lost 50 Pounds “to Survive” After Cushing Syndrome Diagnosis

Published: Dec 03 2025

Amy Schumer has laid it all out there in a recent, vulnerable Instagram post, addressing rumors surrounding her marriage to Chris Fischer and insight into her monumental weight loss journey. "I didn't lose 30lbs, I lost 50," Amy wrote in the Dec. 2 post. "Not to look hot which does feel fun and temporary. I did it to survive. I had a disease that made my face extremely puffy and could have killed me, but the internet caught it, and that disease has cleared."

In 2024, the 44-year-old shared that she was diagnosed with Cushing Syndrome—a hormonal condition that causes elevated levels of cortisol that can be fatal if left untreated, per the National Library of Medicine—and in her latest post, she shared how she pursued her weight loss journey. "Sorry for whatever feeling it's giving you that I lost weight," Amy continued. "I've had plastic surgery over the years and I use Mounjaro."

This isn't the first time Amy, a mother to son Gene, 6, with Chris, has candidly addressed her dramatic weight loss, slamming the narrative last month that she deleted her pre-transformation photos. "I didn't delete my old photos because they were pre me losing weight," Amy wrote in a Nov. 12 Instagram post. "That's a narrative you created. I'm proud of how I've looked always."

However, Amy emphasized that amid her weight loss journey, she's feeling healthier than ever. "I have been working to be pain free and I finally am," she added. "My endometriosis is better. My back is healing. I no longer have Cushing syndrome so my face went back to normal. I am grateful to be strong and healthy, especially for my son."

Indeed, Amy has been so up front with her weight loss journey that she previously slammed people in her Hollywood circles who have been more glib. "Everyone has been lying saying, 'Smaller portions,'" she told Andy Cohen during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live in 2023. "Shut the f--k up. You are on Ozempic or one of those things, or you got work done. Just stop."
