Anne Hathaway experienced something far more enchanting than just a message in a bottle from Taylor Swift. The actress recently revealed a magical encounter she had with the singer during the 2024 Eras Tour concert in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

"She came out on stage, and it was like the whole place erupted," Anne recalled, who was filming 'Mother Mary' in the area at the time. She told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show on April 15th. "She makes the audience feel so loved, and she made me feel so loved."

"I was thinking, 'Oh my God, Annie, you're so cute,'" she continued. "You think Taylor Swift is waving at you right now."

As it turned out, Anne's Swiftie instincts were absolutely correct.

"Somebody tapped me on the shoulder and said, 'Taylor wants you to have this,'" the 43-year-old recounted. "I thought, 'What is happening?' When I opened it, it was a note from Taylor saying, 'I'm so happy you're here. I'm going to be enthusiastically waving at you.'"

Anne gushed, "Oh my God! She's so magical! She did the thing! And I was right! I am special!"

In fact, the Oscar winner's character in her new film, pop star Mother Mary, was inspired by Taylor, along with other famous artists like Lady Gaga and Beyoncé. Anne explained that she was "really influenced" by Taylor's 2020 documentary 'Miss Americana'.

"And how vulnerable she let herself be in that," Anne said of Taylor. "Pop stars, whom we're so used to seeing in their power and so polished, what happens when they're in-between moments and having a moment of metamorphosis which can be so painful."

Taylor herself has been candid about living a very public life and blocking out the noise over the years. On an August 2025 episode of 'New Heights', she said, "Anything you feed your brain, it will internalize. Anything you feed the internet, it will kill. I've been in the music industry for 20 years. It's pretty hard to hurt my feelings at this point."

"Something can be about me," she told cohosts Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce. "My name can be in the actual headline, and it can still be none of my business."
