Dua Lipa paid a heartfelt homage to a fellow pop icon during her electrifying Radical Optimism tour stop in Miami. On Saturday (Sept. 27), amidst the fervor of the second of two consecutive nights at the city’s Kaseya Center, the 30-year-old British-Albanian sensation delivered a stirring, pitch-perfect rendition of Ariana Grande’s “One Last Time,” a track from Grande’s 2014 album, My Everything. Captured on fan-recorded videos, Lipa dazzled onstage in a fur-trimmed, glittering black jacket layered over a lacy, sheer bodysuit, pouring her soul into the emotional anthem, which soared to No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 2015.
Grande, a proud native of Florida, swiftly took notice, sharing a snippet of Lipa’s cover on her Instagram Story and expressing her gratitude with a tearfully touched emoji. Lipa has cultivated a tradition of weaving locally inspired covers throughout her Radical Optimism World Tour, which commenced its U.S. leg earlier this month at Chicago’s United Center.
During her inaugural night in Miami on Friday (Sept. 26), the “Houdini” hitmaker paid a vibrant tribute to local legends Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine, delivering a high-octane performance of “Conga” that left the crowd in raptures. Earlier in the tour, Lipa extended her homage to New York, joining forces with Nile Rodgers for a disco-infused take on Chic’s 1978 classic “Le Freak.” She also celebrated the Big Apple with stirring renditions of Alicia Keys’ “No One” and Blondie’s “One Way or Another.” At the U.S. tour kickoff in Chicago on Sept. 5, Lipa brought out hometown hero Chaka Khan for a powerhouse duet of her 1983 smash “Ain’t Nobody,” creating an unforgettable moment.
Lipa is set to continue the North American leg of her tour with upcoming performances in Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle, before embarking on a journey to South America and Mexico. The Radical Optimism World Tour is in support of Lipa’s third studio album of the same name, which made a triumphant debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in 2024. The album has spawned multiple chart-toppers, including the lead single “Houdini,” which reigned supreme for 17 weeks atop Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
