Armie Hammer is unveiling an extraordinary anecdote from a hunting expedition, where he consumed a portion of an animal's heart. The embattled actor, who has previously been entangled in accusations of cannibalistic fantasies, was inquisitively probed on The Louis Theroux Podcast about the authenticity of the tale that he "extracted the heart from the animal and consumed it while it was still warm."
"No, one doesn't devour the entire heart," Hammer elucidated to host Louis Theroux, delving into the hunting ritual. "A customary practice involves taking a bite from the heart, surrounded by your peers, who egg you on with encouragement."
The actor, renowned for his role in Call Me by Your Name, further elaborated, "It's akin to an almost hyper-masculine rite of passage for those embarking on their maiden hunting journey. Everyone I've known who ventured into their first hunt had to partake in a similar gesture." He emphatically clarified that this tradition was "unrelated to any cannibalistic urges or sexual fulfillment."
In 2021, excerpts of sexually charged text messages sent by Hammer to various women emerged, filled with dark sexual fantasies and references to cannibalism. Later that year, a woman accused him of raping her in 2017, and two more women came forward, charging the actor with emotionally abusing them. These allegations were meticulously detailed in the Discovery+ documentary series, House of Hammer.
Hammer has previously insisted that all the relationships were consensual sadomasochistic arrangements but conceded to emotionally abusing the women. Despite an investigation conducted by the Los Angeles County district attorney, Hammer was not indicted in 2023 due to insufficient evidence.
During his conversation with Theroux, the actor from The Man from U.N.C.L.E. also tackled the 2021 allegations, stating, "To truly be a cannibal, you must consume human flesh. Hence, no."
"Occasionally, when you're entangled in a romantic relationship and engaging in intimate acts, being a bit of a provocateur can be exhilarating," Hammer added. "It's amusing to ruffle feathers and push boundaries incrementally. Did I ever intend to sever or consume any part of another person? Absolutely not. It was never something I desired. Was it amusing to joke about when I was stoned, drunk, or chuckling as I typed these messages? Sure, it was."
