Avril Lavigne left her fans astonishment when she graced the stage with her ex-husband, Deryck Whibley, during a recent concert, hailing him as a "legend" amidst thunderous applause. The 40-year-old vocalist and the 45-year-old frontman of Sum 41, who tied the knot in 2006, eventually parted ways in 2009 after sharing a few wonderful years together. Despite their separation, Avril and Deryck have maintained a cordial relationship.
On the night of Sunday, June 15, Deryck joined Avril on stage at the RFK Stadium Grounds in Washington, where she was headlining the Vans Warped Tour. Together, they belted out Sum 41's hit "In Too Deep" in front of what Avril described as "one of the most electric crowds" she had ever performed for.
Posting on her Instagram, the "Complicated" songstress exclaimed, "Last night, I headlined the @vanswarpedtour, and it exceeded all my expectations! The crowd was phenomenal, and you guys truly know how to rock out!" She further added, "And joining me on stage was this legend, @deryckwhibley from @sum41, for one of the all-time greatest pop-punk anthems, 'In Too Deep'."
Currently, Deryck is married to model Ariana Cooper. Meanwhile, Avril wed Chad Kroeger in 2013 but divorced in 2015. More recently, in March 2022, Avril got engaged to singer Mod Sun, but unfortunately, their engagement ended within a year.
