Bad Bunny, alias Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, admitted in a January 5 interview with Time that the tracks on his latest album may not directly narrate his personal romantic escapades, yet they could draw inspiration from them. The 30-year-old artist revealed, "I've penned songs that are fueled by individuals about whom the general public knows absolutely nothing." He further elaborated, "The essence of a song can diverge widely, encompassing the void left by a departed loved one or a love story. Yet, it can also embody myriad other sentiments that have faded into the past."

Specifically, the album's namesake track, "DtMF," delves into the pangs of regret associated with a relationship while concurrently seeking solace in its conclusion. (Bad Bunny's latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, translates to "I Should Have Taken More Photos.") Numerous admirers of this Puerto Rican crooner have presumed that this break-up anthem alludes to his recent split with model and reality TV star Kendall Jenner.

Bad Bunny and Jenner, 28, sparked romance rumors in February 2023 when they were spotted on a cozy date in Beverly Hills. They later made a stylish appearance together at the Met Gala in May of the same year. Their romance remained relatively under wraps until their separation in December 2023, after less than a year of dating. Prior to their split, Bad Bunny expressed his awareness of the public scrutiny, stating to Rolling Stone, "I know something is going to come out. I know people are going to talk. People know nearly everything about me, so what's left to shield? My private life, my personal sphere."

Despite their breakup, the couple rekindled their romance for a romantic evening in Paris in June 2024. However, a source exclusively confirmed to Us Weekly in September that Jenner "decided she wanted some space," marking the end of their relationship. "They remain friendly but have retreated and are not dating," the source disclosed to Us at that time.

A different source previously told Us that Jenner was not inclined towards committing to another serious relationship, stating, "She desires to remain single for the time being. Kendall isn't prepared to be tied down and is relishing this phase of her life."

While his latest album delves into the intricacies of romantic love, Bad Bunny also revealed to Time that Debí Tirar serves as a homage to his native island of Puerto Rico. He shared, "At moments, you might feel a twinge of nostalgia, a hint of sentimentality... But concurrently, you savor other joys: playing dominoes with your grandparents or family. Being in Puerto Rico feels like being at home, surrounded by our community. That's a reason to be joyful, to feel content."
