On Monday evening, Bad Bunny graced the red carpet of the Met Gala for the fourth time, donning a dark brown pava hat that served as a poignant emblem of his Puerto Rican heritage. For his ensemble, the chart-topping artist showcased a bespoke Prada brown kid mohair suit, a tobacco poplin shirt adorned with a raffia tie, a natural rope and leather belt, and matching canvas boots as he ascended the legendary staircase. Accentuating his look were embellished leather gloves and a chic Fall/Winter 2025 runway bag.
The straw pava hat, deeply rooted in the culture of Puerto Rico's jíbaro — those who till the land in the countryside — added a touch of authenticity to Bad Bunny's attire. He had previously sports a similar hat in the promotional imagery for his album "Debí Tirar Más Fotos," which debuted earlier this year.
"We painstakingly crafted this look over several months," Bad Bunny revealed to Vogue on the red carpet. "Certain pieces draw inspiration from Puerto Rican culture, like the sombrero and tie, which share the same fabric. We've created something truly special. I feel fantastic, and I hope everyone thinks I look great."
Moments before reaching the iconic Met steps, the artist made a splashy announcement: the launch of his global stadium tour, commencing in November in the Dominican Republic and spanning across Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Japan, and much of Europe. Notably absent were dates in the United States. On the red carpet, he hinted that the tour would be "one colossal party" filled with "mucho sentimiento."
Last year, Bad Bunny co-chaired the esteemed event, with this year's honor bestowed upon A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, and Pharrell Williams (alongside Anna Wintour), as the 2025 Met Gala celebrated the Costume Institute's new exhibition, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style."
