LeBron James is poised to croon, "I'm Just Ken," as the Los Angeles Lakers superstar is about to receive his very own doll crafted by Mattel, the makers of Barbie, in collaboration with the LeBron James Family Foundation. This NBA legend has made toy history by becoming the first athlete ever to be immortalized with a Ken doll. "As a child, I was blessed with role models who not only ignited my spirit but also demonstrated the potential that lies in relentless effort and commitment. Today, as a grown-up, I comprehend the immense significance of positive influences for the youth," he articulated in a press release dated April 9. "This endeavor serves as a platform to acknowledge the profound impact of role models who nurture confidence, kindle dreams, and assure kids that greatness is within their reach too."

James collaborated closely with Mattel to conceptualize his doll, which will be featured in the company's novel "Kenbassador" series, highlighting men who "illuminate and contribute to a brighter world for all." Standing an inch taller than conventional Kens available in stores, this doll boasts a sophisticated wardrobe that commands attention.

According to the press release, each James doll will flaunt "a bespoke varsity jacket draped over the LeBron James Family Foundation's iconic 'We Are Family' T-shirt, paired with Nike Terminator High sneakers, Beats headphones, sunglasses, a fanny pack, a wristwatch, and his enduring ‘I Promise’ bracelet." The patches on his jacket are emblematic of his Ohio roots, his jersey number "23," and a homage to the LeBron James Family Foundation.

Mattel has pledged to donate a copy of James' children's book, I Am More Than, to Save the Children for every Barbie Signature LeBron James "Kenbassador" doll sold at Target stores and Target.com from April 14 to 19, 2025, up to a generous total of 5,000 copies. For LA-based enthusiasts, a limited edition of the doll, including some personally signed by James, will be available on April 12, starting at 11 a.m. PT, at the Undefeated store on La Brea.
