BD Wong, a prominent actor known for his roles in "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Mr. Robot," "Gotham," and the "Jurassic World" franchise, issued a heartfelt and detailed apology on Threads after making a "racist comment" on social media. The incident sparked outrage when Wong, in an attempt to follow the prompt "Wrong Answers Only," allegedly replied to a post by Mike Holston (aka @TheRealTarzan), who boasts 16 million Instagram followers. Holston, a Black individual, had posted a photo of an animal with the caption, prompting Wong to respond with a since-deleted comment that read, "It appears to be a Black man."

Wong later took to Threads to express his regret and sincere apologies for the hurtful comment. He wrote, "Y'all, I made a very bad joke. As most people in hot water do, I deleted it for damage control, but it's out there and continues to hurt and disappoint. I'm really sorry about the hurt part. Super dumb, but I tried to follow the 'Wrong Answers Only' prompt with the wrongest answer. This succeeded only in being Super Wrong. I know nobody gets a free pass. I'm sorry if this #wtfbd moment tarnished any respect you may have had for me. And thanks if you advocate for an internet that's safe for everybody."
Hours later, Wong further elaborated on his apology, clarifying his recognition and acceptance of responsibility for the terrible nature of his comment. He added, "Let me please spend the energy on how wrong I know it is to exploit a despicable, racist trope in the supposed spirit of humor; I do know better, but again, no excuses. Very sorry for the hurt I've caused and for taking lightly something so deeply injurious."
Wong's apology came after his return to the role of Dr. George Huang on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" earlier this year during the show's 27th season. The actor's other notable TV roles include Whiterose in "Mr. Robot" and Hugo Strange in "Gotham." Additionally, he originated the role of Dr. Henry Wu in 1993's "Jurassic Park" and reprised the character in the first "Jurassic World" trilogy from 2015 to 2022.
