Armada Music Group's dance music investment arm, Beat Music Fund, has secured an expansive portfolio of the Canadian DJ, producer, and Turbo Recordings founder Tiga's catalog, encompassing beloved hits such as "Sunglasses at Night," "Bugatti," "You Gonna Want Me," and "Let's Go Dancing." This acquisition by Armada, founded in 2003 by Dutch trance pioneer Armin van Buuren, entrepreneur Maykel Piron, and manager-agent David Lewis, also encompasses the Kölsch-featured "HAL," collectively solidifying Tiga's status as a techno legend and amassing over 33 million Spotify streams.
Financial details of the deal remain under wraps.
Tiga, now 50, enthused, "Collaborating with Beat and Armada Music Group represents a transformative milestone in my artistic journey. Our shared fervor for dance music and profound admiration for creators within this sphere pave the way for an exciting collaboration. I eagerly anticipate joining hands with the Armada team to rejuvenate my creations and broaden the reach of the techno genre."
Armada celebrated Tiga's role, stating, "Renowned for his groundbreaking sound that spearheaded the early-2000s electro resurgence, Tiga embarked on his musical odyssey in the late '90s and soared to global fame with his electronic rendition of Corey Hart's 'Sunglasses at Night' in 2001. His critically hailed albums, Sexor, with viral tracks like 'You Gonna Want Me,' and Ciao!, achieved monumental success and were instrumental in sculpting the contemporary dance landscape."
Recently, DJ and producer Layton Giordani's remix of Tiga and Audion's 2013 anthem "Let's Go Dancing" garnered nearly 2 million streams across various platforms. Additionally, DJ Reinier Zonneveld and Zyntherius' reinterpretation of Tiga's 2001 classic "Sunglasses at Night" emerged as a 2024 club staple.
"Tiga is a generational gem who has etched an unforgettable impression on the dance music industry," said Piron, CEO of Armada Music Group. "His versatile contributions, both as a solo artist and producer, have significantly influenced the genre for nearly three decades. We are thrilled to uphold Tiga's legacy and eagerly anticipate capitalizing on fresh opportunities to breathe new life into his iconic tunes."
