Bella Hadid is taking some much-needed time to rest and recuperate. The renowned model recently revealed that her absence from New York Fashion Week was due to her prioritizing her health by staying in bed. On September 17th, she shared a series of photos from what seemed to be a hospital bed. In the images, Bella is seen connected to IVs, donning an oxygen mask, and seemingly undergoing a blood transfusion. "I’m sorry I always go MIA," she captioned the Instagram post, "I love you guys."
Bella's mother, Yolanda Hadid, extended her heartfelt wishes to her daughter, subtly hinting at Bella's ongoing battle with Lyme disease as the root cause of her current condition. She commented, "Lyme warrior," accompanied by a red heart emoji. Her sister, Gigi Hadid, also expressed her love and support, writing, "I love you! I hope you feel as strong and good as you deserve, soon!!!!!!"
The 26-year-old supermodel was diagnosed with Lyme disease over a decade ago. According to the CDC, it is an infection that originates from a tick bite and can escalate into a serious chronic illness if left untreated. Over the years, Bella has been candid about the profound impact the disease has had on her life. "The little me that suffered would be so proud of grown me for not giving up on myself," she wrote on Instagram in 2023, mentioning that she had been undergoing over 100 days of treatment. "Living in this state, deteriorating with time and work while striving to make myself, my family, and the people who support me proud, had taken a toll on me in ways I can't fully articulate. To be that sad and sick despite having the most blessings, privilege, opportunities, and love surrounding me was perhaps the most bewildering experience ever."
Bella continued, "The universe operates in the most agonizing and yet beautiful ways. But I must say, if you're struggling, things will get better. I promise. Take a step back, stay resilient, have faith in your journey, walk in your truth, and the clouds will begin to part."
