The trailer hinted at a stern rebuke Kyle received from Captain Kerry Titheradge over his beachside escapade with the female vacationer under the cover of darkness. Recalling the incident, the Scotland native shared, "[Deckhand] Damo [Yorg] was a great friend who essentially prompted me, saying, 'Listen buddy, you've got to go inform the captain about what's happening, because people are talking.' That conversation was incredibly tough, especially since it occurred the day after my birthday. Being hungover and having to confront the captain was certainly not a highlight of my day."

He further elaborated, "Moreover, what happened afterward just made my day even worse. It's not a memory I cherish." While Kyle conceded that he harbors some regrets from season 12, He steadfastly refused to apologize for the alleged misconduct, standing his ground firmly. Reflecting on the experience, he said, "I don't regret any of the actions I took, but certainly my responses to certain situations. It undoubtedly contributed to my personal growth."

So, did Kyle's hookup ultimately lead to his dismissal by Captain Kerry? He teased, "I'm surprised I even made it to the end of the season." As for his current relationship with his boss following the fallout, Kyle hopes Kerry still holds him in a positive light. "This year, I definitely pushed Kerry's boundaries in terms of socializing or fraternizing with the guests, if you will," he admitted. "We'll see what he thinks, but I believe I still retain the captain's respect. At least, I hope I do."
