BLACKPINK's LISA is making her eagerly anticipated acting debut in the third season of HBO Max's acclaimed series, The White Lotus. The teaser for the 2025 season from HBO, which showcases snippets from the upcoming episodes, introduces fans to the K-pop sensation credited under her birth name, Lalisa Manobal. She portrays Mook, a resort manager whose warm greeting, "Welcome to The White Lotus in Thailand, ka," sets the tone for the new guests' experience.
Scheduled to premiere next year, the third season of White Lotus was filmed extensively across Thailand, marking a homecoming for LISA, who has previously expressed her enthusiasm about showcasing the enchanting beauty of her native country to viewers.
In a recent interview with ELLE, LISA revealed her initial reaction upon being cast by The White Lotus creator Mike White, whom she hailed as a "genius." "I think I cried [when I got the role]," she shared. "I was with my friends, my mom's friends, and my mom too, but I hadn't told them about the audition." "I was super excited and nervous at the same time, considering it's my first acting project. I was happy for a brief moment, but then I thought, 'Oh wait, how am I going to pull this off?'"
While acting may be a new venture for LISA, the BLACKPINK star noted some parallels to her work in music videos, stating, "It's definitely new to me, but I think it's somewhat similar to shooting music videos... I'm thrilled for my fans to see it." She added that filming in Thailand gave her the opportunity to reconnect with her roots and indulge in Thai cuisine daily. "I believe people will fall even more in love with Thailand," LISA remarked.
Apart from her new endeavor in television, LISA has continued to make ripples in the music industry. In 2024, she released her single "Rockstar," which debuted at No. 70 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 4 on the Billboard Global 200, marking her first-ever No. 1 hit on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart. Since then, she has also released the Rosalía-assisted track "New Woman" and "Moonlit Floor."
BLACKPINK, comprising LISA, Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé, has set unprecedented benchmarks. Their highest-charting entry on the Billboard Hot 100, "Ice Cream" featuring Selena Gomez, reached No. 13. In 2022, the group made history as the first female K-pop act to top the Billboard 200 with their album Born Pink, which also soared to No. 1 on the U.K. Albums Chart.
