Brandon Blackstock is being remembered fondly by those who knew him best. Following his tragic passing after a courageous three-year battle with cancer, the talent manager—who finalized his divorce from Kelly Clarkson in 2022 after a decade-long marriage—has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who loved him. His daughter, Savannah Blackstock Lee, took to Instagram on August 19 to share a heartfelt tribute, offering a glimpse into her father's final months and highlighting his deepening spiritual journey.
"In the last six months, my dad bestowed upon me a new facet of our bond—a relationship grounded in Jesus," she wrote. "He had always held a reverence for the Lord, but six months ago, he sought the Lord with renewed fervor. He was thirsty for the Word, and we embarked on this journey together."
She continued, "Throughout my life, he has given me more than I could have ever asked for or deserved. But twelve days ago, he bestowed upon me the most precious gift of all—the peace of knowing he is now in Heaven, by our Savior's side."
Savannah, whose mother is Brandon's first wife, Melissa Ashworth, went on to cherish some of her cherished memories with her father. "My dad never faltered in making my dreams come true," the 23-year-old reflected. "No matter how lofty or distant, he paved the way. He not only fulfilled my dreams but chased them alongside me. Across the globe, he was my biggest cheerleader, my best friend, my voice of reason, and the highlight of my daily phone calls."
Despite her profound grief, Savannah finds solace in her father's faith. "I have lost a piece of my heart and my beloved Cowboy, but Heaven has gained an angel," she added. "I am deeply grateful for the time we shared, and I eagerly await eternity. I love you, dad, and I will miss you forever. Enjoy your ranch in Heaven; God designed it with your heart's desires in mind."
Upon confirming Brandon's passing at the age of 48, his representative stated that "he passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones." Numerous figures from his inner circle took a moment to pay heartfelt tributes.
Brandon's former stepmother, Reba McEntire—who was married to his father, Narvel Blackstock, from 1989 to 2015—posted an emotional tribute to her "stepson and oldest son." "His struggle is over, and he now rests in eternal peace in God's presence," Reba shared on Instagram on August 12. "There is no one quite like him, and I am grateful for the time we shared. His legacy and laughter will live on through his family. Rest in peace, cowboy. Happy trails until we meet again."
Reba and Narvel's son and Brandon's half-brother, race car driver Shelby Steven McEntire Blackstock, also paid his respects. "Brandon Blackstock was an irreplaceable member of our family—funny, brilliant, and brimming with life—and he will be sorely missed," he posted. "He taught me so much, leaving behind countless cherished memories that I will hold dear forever."
Kelly, who shares children River Rose, 11, and Remington "Remy" Alexander, 8, with Brandon, announced the cancellation of her upcoming Las Vegas performance dates due to his illness just one day before his passing. "Regrettably, I must postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas," the American Idol alum wrote on Instagram on August 6. "While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill, and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them."
Brandon was also a father to son Seth Blackstock with his ex-wife Melissa and became a grandfather in 2022 when Savannah welcomed her son Luke into the world.
