Cardi B has become entangled in a legal saga initiated by a former admirer, Jane Doe, who asserts that the chart-topping artist physically harmed her by hurling a microphone in her direction with deadly aim. On July 29, 2023, Doe attended Cardi's headline-grabbing performance at Drai's Beachclub, where she alleges that Cardi, amid "visibly scorching conditions," encouraged fans to "douse her with water."

According to legal papers acquired by People Magazine, Doe filed a complaint in the Eighth Judicial Court of Clark County, Nevada, stating that she, "in keeping with the ambient environment and in harmony with other concertgoers," "lightly splashed a minute amount of her beverage toward Cardi B." However, Doe contends that the rapper responded with "evident fury and without prior notice," catapulting her microphone "suddenly and with considerable force" straight at her. Doe's lawsuit maintains that she instantly felt "an impending fear of imminent harmful contact."

The concert attendee further asserts that the microphone actually struck her, leading to "unwelcome and unauthorized physical contact, inflicting bodily harm." Doe insists that Cardi ought to have realized that the microphone, when thrown, "posed a predictable danger of physical injury," rendering the Grammy Award winner's actions as "an unwarranted and retaliatory deed, culminating in hurtful and offensive contact" with Doe.

Doe has initiated a lawsuit against Cardi for assault, battery, and negligence, alleging that her actions caused "profound emotional distress, shock, humiliation, and physical injury."
