Channing Tatum isn't your average dad—he's the epitome of cool. The 45-year-old star of Magic Mike graced the L.A. premiere of Demon Slayer: Infinite Castle on September 9 at the TCL Chinese Theater, where he exclusively shared with PEOPLE that his role in the beloved manga and anime franchise has earned him major "cool dad" status with his 13-year-old daughter, Everly.
"Stories hold immense significance. They truly, truly, truly matter, and this one, in particular, has a special place in my heart and in my daughter's," he remarked, adding that voicing the character Keizo in the series has racked up some serious cool points.
Everly was so thrilled about her dad's latest gig that she joined him on the red carpet, exuding a mature elegance in a pale blue, ruffled, off-the-shoulder gown.
Tatum and his ex-wife, Jenna Dewan, welcomed their daughter in 2013 before parting ways in 2018. These days, the Step Up alumni are navigating co-parenting their newly minted teenager with grace and success, with Tatum openly embracing his role as a devoted "girl dad."
"When I became a single father, I was filled with trepidation about connecting with Everly in all the ways a little girl might desire," the actor confessed in 2021. "I didn't know how to paint nails or braid hair."
"But I dove headfirst into this enchanting world, and in return, I was blessed with a love that I believe I could never have experienced otherwise," he added.
In August 2023, Tatum took Everly to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert in Los Angeles. Gayle King shared a video on Instagram of Tatum dancing up a storm at the event, as well as a snapshot of the actor donning a T-shirt that read: "It's me, hi, I'm the daddy, it's me."
Tatum's journey as a parent to Everly even inspired him to pen his first children's book, The One and Only Sparkella. The proud dad dedicated the book to his girl, writing in the inscription, "To Everly, the most brilliant, magical being that I have ever known. You are my greatest teacher."
Tatum has since released a second installment in the series, The One and Only Sparkella Makes a Plan, and in 2022, he announced that Sparkella would be adapted into a live-action film, with none other than himself in the starring role.
As for Dewan, she and her fiancé, Steve Kazee, have expanded Everly's sibling circle with two additions: Callum, born in March 2020, and Rhiannon, born in June 2024.
