Charlie Hunnam is offering fans a rare glimpse into a side of himself he seldom reveals to the public. Known for his ultra-private nature, the star enjoyed an exceedingly uncommon date night with his longtime girlfriend, Morgana McNelis, at the 2025 Emmy Awards. Prior to the September 14th ceremony—hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles—the adorable couple strutted down the red carpet, holding each other tight. Hunnam cut a dashing figure in a dark blue suit, his jacket casually unbuttoned to reveal a gleaming, matching shirt. The former Sons of Anarchy star completed his relaxed yet refined ensemble with black shoes and sunglasses. Meanwhile, McNelis dazzled in a floor-length, strapless gold gown that accentuated her ample cleavage. The jewelry designer paired her daring neckline with gold accessories, a sleek black clutch, and black heels.
After indulging in some sweet public displays of affection on the carpet, the couple made their way inside to savor the show. Their appearance might have come as a surprise to some fans, given that Hunnam and his partner of over a decade are infamous for shunning the spotlight when it comes to their relationship.
Moreover, the pair isn't rushing to tie the knot, even after spending so many years together. "[I'm] sort of indifferent," Hunnam confessed during a 2020 SiriusXM interview. "She doesn't feel the same way. She's very keen on getting married. So, yeah, I'll do it because it matters to her, but I don't harbor any particularly strong romantic sentiments about it." The 45-year-old—who married actress Katharine Towne in a Las Vegas whirlwind at the age of 18, only for their union to dissolve shortly thereafter—went on to quip that his first trip down the aisle "didn't exactly pan out as planned."
As for Hunnam's motivation for attending this year's Emmys, he was entrusted with presenting the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series. "A great performance can illuminate our understanding of ourselves, casting light and clarity on the murky, confusing corners of life," the 45-year-old declared onstage while introducing the nominees. "Through art, we can transform painful truths into something exquisite. These talented artists have all accomplished just that."
