In a heartfelt statement to People magazine, Elijah’s wife, Marieangela King Allman, shared insights into the musician’s internal battles amidst this trying time. "While it is an undeniable fact that Elijah has faced personal challenges throughout his life, his unwavering dedication to sobriety and his loyalty to his loved ones have remained constants," said Marieangela, who filed for divorce from Elijah in April. "He, like so many others, continues to grapple with his internal demons — yet, it is crucial to acknowledge that he does so with a spirit of resilience, not defeat," she continued. Despite the misconceptions that often color the narrative of his journey, the truth is that Elijah remains steadfast, focused, and profoundly committed to living a life of integrity and purpose.

Marieangela emphasized, "I want to make it clear, without any hesitation, that I will always be his biggest supporter. My unwavering support stems from a deep respect for the person he is and the resilience he continues to exhibit."

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Marieangela filed for divorce from Elijah in April, citing irreconcilable differences, after eleven years of marriage. The couple had tied the knot on December 1st, 2013. Though Elijah had initiated divorce proceedings against Marieangela in 2021, the petition was later dismissed, and they remained together until March of this year.

In her divorce filing, Marieangela noted March 31st as their date of separation. At that time, she requested exclusive use of their residence and their 2017 Toyota Prius V. Speaking to TMZ in April, Marieangela reflected, "We embarked on a beautiful 13-year journey, filled with cherished memories that I will forever hold dear. I am confident that we will remain friends, and Elijah will forever hold a special place in my heart. As we embark on this new chapter, we kindly request privacy and sincerely appreciate your understanding."

Elijah is Cher’s only son with the late musician Gregg Allman. She also shares a son, Chaz Bono, with the late Sonny Bono.
