A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed to BBC News, "A 36-year-old male was detained at a Manchester hotel shortly past 2 a.m. on May 15th, under suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm." They further elaborated, "He has been detained and remains in custody. This arrest stems from an incident that transpired at a location in Hanover Square on February 19th, 2023." The case is being overseen by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.

Upon discovering that Brown had arrived in the UK via private jet, officers from the Metropolitan Police traveled to Manchester to inquire about his status. The Sun newspaper inquired whether Brown was under arrest at the time.

In an interview with The Sun in 2023, Mr. Diaw recounted how Brown allegedly struck him on the head with a bottle, followed by punches and kicks while he was lying helplessly on the floor. The attack left his knee injured, necessitating hospitalization and the use of crutches upon his discharge.

Brown, the R&B singer who shot to fame two decades ago with hits like "Beautiful People," "No Air," "Under The Influence," "Run It," and "Turn Up The Music," is currently on tour and has several UK performances lined up for June and July.
