Apple Martin is proving that music truly runs in the family's veins. The 21-year-old daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin made a surprise appearance on stage with Jade Street during their concert at Cannery Hall in Nashville on October 17th. The Vanderbilt University student, who's studying law, history, and society, donned a minimalist wardrobe of a white cropped tank top and black miniskirt, swaying to the music and playing with her blonde hair, as captured in a TikTok video posted on October 19th.
The performance seems to be part of Apple's larger foray into singing. Days before the event, she and the band teased an upcoming collaboration on the song "Satellites," announcing its October 28th release in a joint post on Instagram.
Of course, this isn't Apple's first foray into music. She previously earned a songwriting credit with her dad's band Coldplay for co-writing the song "Let Somebody Go" featuring Selena Gomez, which appeared on the group's 2021 album Music of the Spheres. The lyrics read, "When I called the mathematicians and I asked them to explain / They said love is only equal to the pain."
Apple has also taken the stage with her dad before. In October 2016, she joined Chris - who also shares son Moses, 19, with Gwyneth - at a charity event for the Malibu Boys and Girls Club, where they sang a duet of Ariana Grande's song "Just a Little Bit of Your Heart."
For now, Apple's musical pursuits seem to be a side project as she's still focused on earning her degree. "I'm a law, history, and society major, but I wish I would've taken - maybe I'll take a theater course before I leave," she told Interview magazine in April. "It's a fun balance between my very different extracurriculars and my major."
