In a bold and candid move, Chrishell Stause, a Selling Sunset alum, left a pointed comment on a video about Katharine McPhee, the former American Idol contestant. The video traced Katharine's journey from her first marriage to Nick Cokas—a man 19 years her senior—to her current relationship with David Foster, who is 35 years her elder.
"One day, she'll find her true inner confidence," Chrishell commented on the May 14 TikTok video. "But it won't come until she's been discarded enough times by the problematic men she backs." The 44-year-old added, "An insecure woman will steal your man and give the worst advice."
E! News reached out to Katharine's representatives but has yet to receive a comment. Katharine, 42, has never been shy about discussing her age gap with David, with whom she shares a 5-year-old son, Rennie. She explained that neither of them really thinks about their age in general.
"We're both very similar in this way," the Smash star told People in 2024. "I welcomed my 40s, and David didn't have any conversations about, like, 'Oh, I can't believe I'm 75,' or I didn't say, like, 'Oh, I can't believe I'm 40. I'm really mourning that.'"
In fact, Katharine and David—who married in 2019—share a similar approach to aging. "It's like we sort of just accept life as it comes," she explained. "And we're not fighting getting older because it just keeps getting better."
David—who is also dad to Alison Jones, 56, Amy Foster, 52, with ex-wife B.J. Cook, as well as Sara Foster, 45, Erin Foster, 43, Jordan Foster, 39, from his marriage to Rebecca Dyer—echoed Katharine's sentiment. "I don't even think about it either," the 76-year-old told People. "You know, I'm just grooving."
However, Katharine was well aware that she and David would likely face judgment for their relationship. "I totally get the judgment initially, but things are never as they appear," she said on the Informed Pregnancy Podcast in 2021. "I'm in love with our love story and that's all that matters."
