Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have joyously embraced a fresh member into their family's loving fold, unveiling the delightful news through a heartwarming video on their pet supplies venture's Instagram page. The duo, who established Kismet in 2024, shared this precious moment with their followers.
The video served as a charming montage of their newest pup, Dudley, whose adoption journey began while he was battling a severe case of pneumonia. Dudley found his way to the Wags & Walks rescue organization amidst the chaotic backdrop of the Los Angeles wildfires in mid-January.
"When we initially encountered Dudley, he was in a fierce battle for survival. After thirteen arduous days in the hospital, bathed in endless affection from his foster family, and a miraculous recovery, he's now officially a part of our home," they penned in the caption accompanying the post. The proud parents of four also included some enchanting snapshots of their children cuddling up to their latest family addition, alongside photos capturing Dudley nestled comfortably under a blanket in his crate.
"We are utterly smitten," the couple couldn't help but gush over their newest bundle of joy.
Prior to his adoption, Dudley underwent round-the-clock care and oxygen therapy for his "severe" pneumonia, as Wags & Walks shared in January, accompanied by heart-wrenching images of the young pup. "Despite making some progress, his body was still grappling with the illness, and unfortunately, he wasn't completely out of danger yet," the rescue had earlier noted.
Over the years, the couple's family has opened their hearts and homes to numerous dogs, as well as other pets including birds, hamsters, and even a bearded dragon. More recently, they bid a fond farewell to their cherished three-legged French bulldog, Penny, who had been a beloved member of the family for 11 years before passing away.
In their announcement of Dudley's adoption, Teigen and Legend also acknowledged the void left by the loss of Penny. "No pet can ever replace the ones we've cherished before, but sometimes, the universe gently reminds us that it's time to once again open our hearts to new love," they added thoughtfully in the caption.
