Claire Danes is taking us on a delightful journey into her personal world. Two years after the My So-Called Life actress welcomed her and husband Hugh Dancy's third bundle of joy, she has revealed some heartwarming anecdotes about her little ones, particularly her daughter's name - Shay.
"I cherish the sight of toddlers dancing, with their bouncing and jumping," Claire shared on the Jan. 27 episode of Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast. "And Shay, my precious baby, is incredibly dreamy and in her own world. Sometimes, she'll do this mesmerizing dance that involves swaying her head. I think, 'That's just fabulous!'"
The 46-year-old added about the 2-year-old, whose name she had not previously shared, "She's absolutely delightful." However, while Shay adores dancing, her big brother Cyrus, 13, is not quite as enthusiastic.
"My eldest son turned 13, and it's like a superpower I possess," the Homeland veteran - who is also a mom to son Rowan, 7, with Hugh - continued. "A slight wiggle in public, and he'll cross the street. I can embarrass him within a heartbeat."
Beyond dance parties with her kids, Claire adores dedicating her free time to her little ones. In fact, she "went all in on embroidery for a while" and started crafting outfits for her children.
"I embroidered onesies for all of my kids, of course," she explained, noting that she ran out of steam when it came to her "unexpected" third child. "I have an unfinished one for Shay, this third child. She doesn't wear onesies anymore. I missed that chance." Claire told Amy, "I'm confessing. I'm actually confessing to you. It's by my bed, half-done."
In fact, the Beast in Me actress admitted that she was quite unprepared for her third child, saying she "absolutely" freaked out when she learned that she was unexpectedly pregnant with Shay at age 44.
"I called my OB-GYN in convulsive tears," she recalled. "It was a complete breakdown." And although Claire has certainly embraced life as a mom of three, she acknowledged that her later-in-life pregnancy was "not by design." "I didn't know it was physically possible," she said.
