It was reported that Andy Dick, the 59-year-old comedian, suffered an apparent overdose on the streets of Los Angeles. Photos obtained by TMZ on Tuesday, December 9, showed the comedian slumped over a set of stairs outside a building in Hollywood, with friends attempting to help him.
The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reportedly responded to the scene after receiving a report of an alleged overdose involving a 59-year-old man. An LAFD representative told TMZ that the man was not transported to the hospital. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) also arrived at the scene to provide aid, per TMZ. However, neither department confirmed Dick's identity to the outlet.
Dick reportedly spoke to TMZ, telling them he was alive and okay, though he did not elaborate on the incident. The actor, who has three adult children - sons Jacob and Lucas and daughter Meg - has struggled with alcohol and drug addiction in the past and has had previous arrests. He was also fired from a movie in 2017 over sexual harassment claims. At the time, he addressed the claims to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, "I didn't grope anybody. I might have kissed somebody on the cheek to say goodbye and then licked them. That’s my thing." He denied that he intended to commit sexual harassment.
