The novel, which was recently crowned the winner of the spring 2024 Jimmy Fallon Book Club, follows Lee, a mother who, during a relentless winter storm, wakes up to find an intruder in her home. In an instant, what should have been an ordinary night turns into a fight for survival. As she struggles to protect her children, she becomes entangled in a harrowing game of doubt and danger that leaves her questioning not only who has entered her home but also what they truly want. "Nightwatching" is a tense and atmospheric thriller that explores the razor-thin line between safety and terror and how far a parent will go when darkness closes in.

Hawkins will play the police officer in charge of her home invasion case. CAA Media Finance and WME Independent are representing domestic distribution rights.

Hawkins' next projects include the Amazon MGM Studios thriller "Crime 101," which also stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Barry Keoghan, and Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," opposite Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Rob Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, and Lupita Nyong'o. He also stars opposite Willem Dafoe in Nadia Latif's adaptation of the Walter Mosley novel "The Man in My Basement," which premiered at TIFF 2025. Most recently, Hawkins starred in Malcolm Washington's "The Piano Lesson" for Netflix, opposite John David Washington, Sam Jackson, and Danielle Deadwyler. The film premiered at the Telluride Film Festival before going on to TIFF and London.
