Court's decision to ban independent activities by NewJeans finalized

On Wednesday, a court injunction prohibiting members of the K-pop girl group NewJeans from engaging in independent activities outside the purview of their management company was officially confirmed, following their failure to lodge an appeal with the Supreme Court by the preceding day's deadline. Earlier, on June 17th, the Seoul High Court had upheld a lower court's ruling to grant the injunction sought by ADOR, the group's agency, which aimed to curb the five members from freely signing advertising contracts and pursuing individual musical endeavors. This ruling was part of a broader legal battle between the two parties. According to current legislation, any appeal to the Supreme Court must be submitted within one week of the appellate court's decision. As no appeal was filed by the stipulated deadline, the court's decision to restrict the group's independent activities was finalized on Wednesday. Having rebranded as NJZ in February, NewJeans embarked on their journey of independent activities after accusing ADOR in November of the previous year of breaching the terms of their exclusive contract.
