Cristiano Ronaldo didn't receive a penalty for his extravagant gift-buying endeavor. More than two months after he and his fiancée, Georgina Rodríguez, exchanged vows of commitment, the soccer superstar revealed the inspiration behind her dazzling diamond ring. "I knew one day I was going to propose," the 40-year-old shared during the November 4 episode of Piers Morgan's Uncensored podcast. "But I didn't know how to go about it." Georgina, 31, who shares twins Eva Maria and Mateo, 8, Alana, 7, Bella, 3, and the late Angel with the athlete, has been sharing glimpses of the oval gem since their engagement, including posing with it during her September 11 outing in New York.

Despite Ronaldo's confidence that she would adore the ring, he noted that Georgina's focus was on his words. "She didn't care about the ring," he admitted. "She asked me if I was speaking the truth. She said, 'Are you honest?' And I said, 'Yes, I'm honest. I want you. I want to marry you.' But she didn't believe me at first."
As for how Ronaldo planned the August proposal, shortly after purchasing the ring, he enlisted a friend to "keep it" so that he could pop the question after dinner. "It was like 1 a.m., and my daughters were in bed sleeping," he recalled. "One of my friends gave me the ring to offer to Gio, and as I was giving her the ring, my two daughters came in and said, 'Daddy, you're going to give the ring to mom and you're going to ask her to get married.' And I said, 'Wow, this was the right moment.'"
Indeed, timing was crucial for the footballer in making this special decision. "I always say that good things come in at the right time," Ronaldo explained. "I said, 'I'm going to propose to her because I think it's the right moment.' Not only because she's the mother of my kids, but she's the person I love. She's the love of my life."
