D4vd Puts House in Mom's Name Amid Celeste Rivas Hernandez Death Investigation

Published: Oct 11 2025

D4vd has recently made some notable alterations to his asset portfolio. Just over a month after the tragic discovery of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez's body in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to the "Romantic Homicide" singer, D4vd has transferred ownership of his Houston, Texas homes to his mother, as revealed by legal documents obtained by TMZ.

The 20-year-old artist, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, has relinquished control of two properties he owns in the Lone Star State, placing them into a trust managed by his mother (whose name the outlet has chosen not to disclose). The documents indicate that D4vd executed these changes on September 18 and September 23. Texas, it should be noted, is also the state where the Tesla containing Rivas Hernandez's body was originally registered, according to authorities cited by ABC News.

E! News has sought confirmation from the Harris County Clerk's Office, as well as reaching out to D4vd’s representatives for any comments they might wish to make.

Rivas Hernandez's body was initially discovered on September 8 at a Hollywood impound yard, after police responded to reports of a "foul odor emanating from a vehicle." The body was subsequently identified as the missing teenager, who had been reported missing on April 5, 2024, from Lake Elsinore, California—a location 76 miles away from where the car was eventually found.

The vehicle had been parked near a Hollywood Hills residence where D4vd had been residing prior to the commencement of his Withered World Tour, a tour that has since been canceled, according to law enforcement sources speaking to ABC News.

In a press release dated September 29, the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division confirmed that "The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause or manner of Ms. Rivas Hernandez’s death." The Los Angeles County Coroner informed TMZ that the teen’s body had been released to her family on September 23, with a service held in her honor at Queen of Heaven Cemetery and Mortuary in Rowland Heights, California, on October 6, as evidenced by photos obtained by the outlet.

D4vd has not faced any charges in connection with the death. A spokesperson previously assured NBC News that the "Here With Me" singer is "fully cooperating with the authorities." While D4vd himself has not publicly addressed the ongoing investigation, his manager, Josh Marshall—known online as JMogul—has stepped forward to dispel rumors. He refuted claims that he had received an email from Rivas Hernandez’s family in 2024 alerting him to her disappearance.

“This has been a tough time for my family as I am a father of three children,” Marshall wrote in the comments section of a TikTok video addressing the rumors, a statement he confirmed to LA Mag as his own. “I never received any emails. I had zero knowledge of anything and I don’t live in California.”

He continued, “Also, I work remotely 95% of the time, and my job doesn’t require me to have much interaction with any of my clients, including David, as there are many others who work with him on a day-to-day basis, not me. This news is tragic for so many, especially her family. I hope the proper authorities get to the bottom of it soon.”

The music manager acknowledged that “a lot of this is speculation and alleged,” but added, “In the meantime, I am with my family, helping them emotionally get through the news of this tragedy.”
