They often say that no good deed goes unpunished. For Dakota Johnson, this seemed to be the literal truth when she lost an acting job simply for being polite to everyone during an audition. The actress, known for her roles in "Fifty Shades of Grey" and "Splitsville," recounted her audition experience during an interview with Hits Radio (below). Although she didn't name the project, she revealed that she was told she missed out on the role - where she had even made it to the second round of a casting call - because she took a moment to introduce herself to everyone in the room.

"I had an audition once - it was a callback - and I walked into the room, shook everyone's hand, and introduced myself," she said. "Then I performed the scene and left. The feedback I received afterward was that because I had gone around and introduced myself and shaken everyone's hand, I was 'pompous,' 'schmoozing,' and full of myself. And I was like, 'Well, what?'" She added that she didn't get the job because they said she was 'cocky,' but she was simply being polite. It was pretty crazy."
It's a joke that's easy to make, but imagine if that role was playing Madame Web.
Currently, Johnson is promoting the U.K. release of "Splitsville," which premiered at Cannes last year to glowing reviews. The indie comedy from director Michael Angelo Covino "explores the chaos following a divorce announcement, focusing on two couples and the consequences of an open marriage." The film also stars Adria Arjona, Kyle Marvin, and Covino.
The Hollywood Reporter called it "the rare indie comedy in which style matters as much as substance" and is currently streaming on Hulu.
