Writer-director Ellie Sachs has assembled an impressive ensemble for her directorial debut, the indie romantic comedy "Lucy Schulman," in which she also stars in the titular role. Recently concluding production in the vibrant hub of New York City, the film boasts an array of talented actors, including executive producer David Cross, renowned for his role in "Arrested Development," alongside Thomas Mann of "Sovereign" fame, Sandrine Holt from "Your Friends & Neighbors," the playwright and actress Eisa Davis, known for "Mare of Easttown," actress and filmmaker Annabelle Attanasio of "Bull," and actor-comedian Hasan Minhaj, who captivated audiences in "It Ends with Us."
The plot of "Lucy Schulman" remains shrouded in mystery. Fernando Loureiro, who previously collaborated on "Frances Ha," and Guilherme Coelho, the upcoming talent behind "Oceânico," are producing the film under their Tigresa banner, joined by Morwin Schmookler of "The Apprentice." Executive producers on the project include Cross alongside Gabriel Faria do Amaral, Jay Burnley, Will Day Frank, Sam Evoy, Will Janowitz, Carissa Knol, Clay Prietsch, Zachary Rice, Kelly Schwartz, Sascha Seinfeld, and Chelsea Tieu.
Prior to this venture, Sachs has left her mark on the industry with her work on the web series "Ad World," sold the short film "Proof of Concept," starring Richard Kind, to The New Yorker, and developed pilots for networks such as FX.
