Billy Flynn, a beloved figure in the world of "Days of Our Lives," is bidding farewell to the Peacock Network soap opera. The talented actor, who embarked on his journey with the series in 2014 to portray the intriguing Chad DiMera, is set to embark on a new chapter at CBS' "The Young and the Restless," donning a fresh role that promises excitement. His debut on the daytime drama is eagerly anticipated for sometime this spring.
Flynn's portrayal of Chad garnered him a massive fan base, largely due to his captivating romance with the character Abigail Deveraux, brought to life with exquisite talent by Kate Mansi and Marci Miller. His swan song on "DOOL" is slated to air in the early months of 2026, marking the end of an era for many fans.
According to Deadline, Flynn's departure is amicable, with no hard feelings on either side. Speaking to TV Insider, which was the first to break the news, Flynn expressed his gratitude, saying, "I am deeply thankful for my years at Days. It has transformed my life in the most wonderful ways. I've always viewed these stories we tell as akin to performing in a play, and I've had the honor of playing this incredible character and being part of one of the greatest love stories ever told for over a decade. Now, I'm thrilled at the prospect of embracing this new opportunity and challenging myself in a different way."
Flynn's legacy extends beyond the main series, as he also starred in the Peacock spin-offs "Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem" and "Days of Our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas." His remarkable work on the soap opera garnered him three Daytime Emmy nominations.
In a heartfelt statement to TV Insider, "DOOL" Executive Producer Ken Corday said, "We stand by Billy not just as an exceptional actor but also as a cherished friend. Our wishes for him are filled with the hope of continued success and unbridled happiness, both personally and professionally. His absence will undoubtedly leave a void in the world of Salem that will be difficult to fill."
