Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, the masterminds behind the acclaimed mockumentary "American Vandal," are making a grand leap into the DC Universe. The duo will pen, executive produce, and helm a "Superman" TV spinoff, starring Skyler Gisondo, the actor who stole hearts as Daily Planet photographer and unexpected ladies' man Jimmy Olsen in James Gunn's summer sensation.

Gisondo and his character underwent a true breakout moment in Gunn's blockbuster, sparking the development of a series centered on Olsen and his fellow Daily Planet reporters (sans Lois Lane and Clark Kent), as they delve into cases involving super-powered villains. The season will put Gorilla Grodd in the spotlight. This super-intelligent evil ape, who rules over a secret African city named Gorilla City, is a key antagonist for the Flash and first appeared in the Scarlet Speedster's comics back in 1959, created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino.
Gunn and his DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran will executive produce, with Galen Vaisman overseeing for DC. Perrault and Yacenda bring their comedic writing prowess to the series, having earned a Peabody Award and an Emmy nomination for their work on "American Vandal," a parody of true-crime series that turned the spotlight on an investigation into phallic images vandalized in a school parking lot.
The duo also crafted "Players," a mockumentary of sports documentaries that streamed on Paramount+. Perrault added to his impressive resume by writing Universal's R-rated talking dog movie "Strays," while Yacenda directed episodes of Glenn Powell's "Chad Powers."
