Max Ehrich is now entangled in a web of legal woes. The former star of *The Young and the Restless*, who was once engaged to Demi Lovato in 2020, found himself behind bars in St. Lucie County, Florida, in the wee hours of October 8, charged with domestic violence, as revealed by online booking records.
Ehrich was processed at the St. Lucie County jail just after midnight on that fateful day, facing allegations of battery against a person aged 65 or older. By 2:30 p.m. the same afternoon, he was released on a $1,000 bond. Adding another layer to the complexity, the 34-year-old was also placed under the Leo Baker Act—a Florida statute that permits the temporary involuntary detention of an individual for psychiatric evaluation, according to the county's online booking logs. E! News has made attempts to contact Ehrich's attorney for comment but has not yet received a response.
The day preceding his arrest, Ehrich had been particularly active on his Instagram grid, posting eight times. Among these were several cryptic notes app declarations proclaiming his single status, along with a poignant message accompanied by a frowning emoticon: “My heart is broken.” Alongside this last post on October 7, Ehrich even went as far as to ask his followers to send Zelle payments to his mother, Rhonda Ehrich.
Beyond his memorable stint as Fenmore Baldwin on *The Young and the Restless*, Ehrich also made a brief appearance as a background dancer in *High School Musical 3: Senior Year*. However, it was his unexpected romantic entanglement with Lovato that truly captured the public's attention. In the spring of 2020, the pair began exchanging flirtatious messages on social media, much to the delight and surprise of their fans. Months later, they confirmed their relationship and were quarantining together during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. By July 2020, they were engaged.
“@maxehrich—I knew I loved you the moment I met you,” Lovato penned in their engagement announcement. “It was an indescribable feeling to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand, but fortunately, you felt it too.” However, the relationship eventually came to an end in September. Nine months later, Lovato—who has since married Jordan “Jutes” Lutes in May—admitted at The 19th Represents virtual summit, “The dissolution of that relationship was actually probably the best thing that's happened to me, because of what it led to within myself.”
