Sharing her thoughts with PEOPLE, Demi mused, "The initial spark of encouragement, the moment that whispered 'this could actually happen,' came when I landed 'General Hospital.' It was a genuine gig on a highly successful soap opera, amped up further by the recent guest appearance of Elizabeth Taylor."
Yet, the star of "The Substance" soon realized that her presence in the entertainment sphere was here to stay. The actress, who topped the earnings charts in the 90s, elaborated, "It was mere weeks shy of my 19th birthday when I secured that role. It felt like a legitimate job, complete with a tangible paycheck. It meant I could bid farewell to other employment and sustain myself solely through this endeavor I adored and aspired to pursue.
