At the grandiose 2025 Met Gala, Lisa emerged as a rejuvenated figure, exuding a newfound sense of self. Stepping onto the storied steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the very first time on May 5th, she captivated fans with an unexpected twist: the apparent embroidery of Rosa Parks' visage at the hem of her bodysuit. However, during a preview of her final fitting ahead of this iconic charity event, the star of 'White Lotus' clarified that her form-hugging Louis Vuitton ensemble – a lace blazer and bodysuit crafted by Pharrell Williams, the brand's men's creative director – drew its inspiration from artist Henry Taylor. Taylor had also been the artist behind Pharrell's recent 'Vogue' cover.

"It's a recreation of an artwork by Henry Taylor," Lisa elaborated in a May 6th YouTube video, urging the cameraman to zoom in on the intricate lace patterns featuring faces. "It's incredible; you must see all the intricate details."

In a recent statement to 'Vulture', a representative for Taylor set the record straight, asserting, "The figure featured in Lisa's Louis Vuitton outfit is not Rosa Parks, but rather one of Henry's neighbors." The representative continued, "The faces visible on this attire, as well as previous LV garments showcasing Taylor's artwork, are all drawn from his personal life – family members, friends, and neighbors. These characters hail directly from Henry's existing art pieces, which he supplied to LVMH for Pharrell's debut collection with Louis Vuitton in 2023."

Beyond the mesmerizing lace designs, Lisa's ensemble showcased a striking silhouette adorned with the Louis Vuitton Flower Monogram and hand-embellished with shimmering crystals. From the onset, the K-pop sensation was determined to push the boundaries of fashion on this pivotal night. "I could opt for pants, but do we really want to go that route?" she reminisced. "Or do we strive for something bolder, more exhilarating?"

Regarding the color palette, the 28-year-old chose hues that not only aligned with the theme, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," but also empowered her. "When I don black, I feel invincible," she emphasized. "It's the perfect fit."

Pharrell, who co-chaired the gala alongside A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, and 'Vogue' editor Anna Wintour, walked her through her debut moment, reassuring her that she would steal the show regardless. "For your Met Gala debut and beyond," Pharrell assured her, "stand tall in the confidence knowing that tonight, you're owning the carpet." He added of her daring design, "It's going to work wonders because this was tailor-made for you."

Indeed, the 'Happy' singer elaborated on the inspiration behind her bespoke look, describing it as chic, wearable, and meticulously crafted. "This look is inspired by this year's Met Gala theme, Superfine," explained the Grammy Award winner. "It encapsulates our love for the color black, a hue cherished worldwide. But tonight, we celebrate the refined taste and aesthetic of Black people."
