The debate surrounding Kim Kardashian's controversial 2022 Met Gala look has stirred up a storm of speculation. The reality star is now setting the record straight on the claims that she damaged Marilyn Monroe's Bob Mackie-designed Jean Louis gown while trying to squeeze into the $5 million garment, which the late actress famously wore while singing "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" to John F. Kennedy in 1962.

After Kim told Vogue that evening that "it was such a challenge" but she "was determined to fit," rumors began to swirl that she had torn the piece. Yet, Ripley's Believe It Or Not! museum—which owns the dress—confirmed that she "did not, in any way, damage the garment in the short amount of time it was worn at the Met Gala."

Now, three years later, more truth is coming to light regarding the situation after a lie detector test with Teyana Taylor. Although Kim said "no" when Teyana asked her if she really did damage the dress, all while hooked up to the machine, the next part of their interaction hinted at something more.

When Teyana asked if it had potentially arrived to Kim with some wear and tear, Kim simply said in the Nov. 3 Vanity Fair segment, "I don't know how it got to me, but it's perfect now." Teyana seemed to believe that being "perfect now" meant some post-Met Gala repairs were made, asking, "Who fixed it?” However, Kim kept her lips sealed.

As to what the lie detector test picked up from their conversation? The administrator shared, "All of it is true." However, Kim's initial denial about damaging the dress may have slipped through the cracks. If her surprised facial expression didn't give it away, when she was asked if she had lied at any point during the interview, her answer may have hinted at a possible truth: "Maybe."
